Peace Stewards
It was reported that around twenty people had come
forward as Peace Steward Volunteers and Roy said that by early next week the draft letter
would be completed which will be sent to all who showed an interest. This will
detail the times of the 'Peace Steward Meetings' which will be at 9:30 pm (by the Welfare Tent at the top of the Car park
Field) and at 11:30 pm (on the
'Peace Stewards Carpet'). Peace Steward Badges will be issued at these meetings
to avoid the confusion which happened last year where some people with these
badges thought they could gain preferential access before the car park opened
to everyone at 8:00 pm. The badge design was shown and approved and a
sample given to EH so that their officers would recognise Peace Stewards
easily. All Peace Stewards will be sent a 'waiver' which must be returned,
either in advance or on the night before receiving their badge. Roy confirmed that spare copies will be available for
those who need them on the night.
The 'Peace Stewards Carpet' will be in the same
location. Tim and Roy would meet at 6:00 pm for the 'operational meeting' and will pass on any updates to the
Peace Stewards at the meetings detailed above.
Sacred Soapbox
The Sacred Soapbox will be marked on the map as
previously stated in the May Meeting Minutes. Lighting: - No separate lighting
will be provided by EH for the Sacred Soapbox of the Model of Stonehenge which
will be displayed and for Health and Safety reasons they will not be allowed to
bring in their own battery powered lights. The Sacred Soapbox will be situated
near one of the braziers and lights from one of the lighting 'towers' will be
angled to illuminate it.
'Food for All'
Food for All confirmed they will be providing a
Free Vegetarian Breakfast which will be situated in the car park field
Procession from the Car Park
There will be around 100 druids with two torches
and Fire Marshalls will be provided for this. The Druids will assemble between 9:30 pm and 10:00 pm to form a 'Druid Arch' for those people who wish to enter the
'Monument Field' through it.
King's Drummers
Lionel confirmed that the
King's Drummers will be bringing one 'Equipment Van'. The Procession will assemble at the top of the
'ramp' and will process to the 'Performance Area' near the Heel Stone. At the
'Performance Area' spent torches will be passed over the fence, and this is
where the replacements will be situated. It is anticipated that the Procession
will start between 2:00 am & 2:30 am. Shortly before the procession starts the Media
will be given an opportunity to take photographs. Druids, Peace Stewards and
some EH Stewards will hold a rope which will give the King's Drummers and their
room 'space' to perform. As the Procession advances the rope will be moved
forward to keep this 'Performance Space'. Roy noted that last year there seemed reluctance on
the part of the King's Drummers Procession to advance, even when a space had
been cleared for them. Lionel explained that although they aimed to process
slowly, the key factor for the drummers was their performance and therefore at
times that had to stop to 'regroup' particularly as the King's Drummers have
over forty drummers carrying large drums, plus many others with small drums and
other percussion.
